After all, how can you cram all those useful features into a short, compelling pitch?<\/p>\n<p>This is especially true for SaaS products where tools are constantly evolving to tackle bigger problems and more use cases. But early on, you should be focused on clearly identifying your prospect\u2019s goal.<\/p>\n<p>Here are seven tips for writing that three-chord classic:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Do a thorough, deep discovery process<\/strong> to identify your prospect&#8217;s pain or opportunity fast.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Narrow down the features they will find most useful<\/strong>, and focus your sales pitch on those.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Get your customer to define the full steps to implementation<\/strong> on the first call, then work backward through each step from signing the contract. There is a good chance, especially early on in the buying process, that they haven&#8217;t considered the full purchase process in detail.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"pullquote-style-two\"><p>&#8220;The clearer your initial pitch is, the easier it will be for your champion to sell on your behalf&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Your job here is to make it as simple as possible for your champion to sell your product to their superiors. Data shows there are now about <a href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/2017\/03\/the-new-sales-imperative\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">6.8 decision-makers in each B2B SaaS deal<\/a>, so the clearer your initial sales pitch is, the easier it will be for your champion to sell on your behalf.<\/p>\n<h3>Customize your pitch every time<\/h3>\n<p>It\u2019s instructive how we approach this at Intercom. For instance, if we\u2019re talking to a prospect who has a problem growing their revenue, there are 100 different Intercom features we can dazzle them with.
