A Help Center is a public website people can visit to find the answers they need about your product. With Articles, you can find out what your customers need help with, and create collections of articles on those topics. Every Help Center also comes with an Intercom Messenger built in, so customers can easily contact you if they need to. 

A help desk is somewhere where you can handle your customers’ questions directly in a team inbox (Intercom Inbox is a help desk). 

If you have Articles and Inbox together, you'll have a Help Center to publish your support content, and an inbox to manage conversations. Inbox also gives you the power to add articles directly to your conversations, without needing to put them on your Help Center first.
