Change your Messenger’s position in your Messenger settings

First, head to your Messenger settings. Then, select the ‘Control inbound conversations and the launcher’ section.

By default, the Messenger will appear in the bottom right corner of your product or site. To move it to the left-hand side of your product or site, just select the drop-down arrow and select ‘Left.’

For web, you can also set your horizontal and vertical padding to 20px or higher. Mobile apps will use 20px padding.

Once you save your changes, the Messenger will appear on the left-hand side of your screen for both web and mobile.

Change your Messenger’s position in your JavaScript code

You can also move the Messenger’s position to the left by changing your install JavaScript code. Just replace the Javascript snippet in the Messenger installation script with this:

window.intercomSettings = {
  app_id: 'abc123',
  alignment: 'left',
  horizontal_padding: 20,
  vertical_padding: 20
};

For web, you can also set your horizontal and vertical padding to 20px or higher. Mobile devices will use 20px padding.

Important: You can only set your Messenger to appear on either the left or right-hand side of your site. It can’t appear in multiple positions across the same site.
