When you switch from Drift to Intercom, the first thing you should do is import your ‘contacts’ to Intercom. You can import them as leads or users using a CSV file. You can import all of their details, including their name, email address, job title, company, location and more.

First, export your contacts from Drift

To export your contacts from Drift, click ‘Download CSV’ in the top right corner of the ‘contacts’ page in Drift.

You’ll need to import your users and leads separately to Intercom. To make this easier, filter your contacts by leads or users in Drift and before you export them, and export them as two separate lists.

Next, import your contacts to Intercom

Once you’ve downloaded your CSV files, you need to import them into Intercom. On the Contacts page, go to your ‘People’ list, click on 'New users or leads':

Then select 'import people':

Then select the CSV import tool to upload your file:

Next, choose if you’d like to import users or leads. Then upload your CSV file.

Once you’ve uploaded your file, you can choose the specific details you’d like to use in Intercom. You can import any data you had in Drift to Intercom, like your leads’ locations, job titles and their company.

We’ll ask you to select your email and full name columns first, as we require these columns to create a lead or user in Intercom.

Once you’ve imported your data, you can add tags to the leads or users you import so you can add them to targeted messages later:

It’s not currently possible to transfer ‘playbooks’ or conversations from Drift to Intercom.
