This article covers the Startup Partner program for customers who joined the program from June 29, 2026. If you're already on the program, your existing plan details and pricing apply. Contact support if you have questions about your current subscription.

What is the Startup Partner program?

Use this article to understand what's included in the Startup Partner program, check whether you're eligible, apply, and see how your pricing changes across the three years of the program. This program is exclusively for new customers who join through a startup partner (venture capital firm, accelerator, bank, or startup community). You'll get access to the Advanced plan for free in year one, 50% off in year two, and 25% off in year three, giving you time to scale before paying full price.

Note: A partner referral is required to apply to this program.

How much does the Startup Partner program cost?

In the first year, you'll get this plan for free from the original list price of $466. In the second year, you’ll receive 50% off, followed by a 25% discount in the third year.

How are usage-based channels discounted?

The Startup Partner program discount (100% in year one, 50% in year two, 25% in year three) also applies to usage-based channels with the exception of Fin AI Agent outcomes, SMS, Phone, and outbound WhatsApp, which are charged at list price.

Fin AI Agent

Your included free Fin AI Agent outcomes reduce each year, 300/month in Year 1, 150/month in Year 2, and 75/month in Year 3. Additional outcomes beyond your monthly allowance are charged at list price.

Pro add-on

Your monthly subscription includes Pro usage up to 1,000 conversations. Pro charges above 1,000 conversations are also discounted at the same rate as the overall discount in that year (100% year one, 50% year two, 25% year three).

Which channels are charged at list price?

The following usage-based channels are not eligible for the Startup Partner program discount and are charged at list price:

SMS

SMS Segments can be used but no discount will be applied, they will be charged at list price.

WhatsApp

Bulk WhatsApp Sent are available but no discount will be applied, they will be charged at list price. Inbound WhatsApp conversations are free.

Phone

Phone is available but no discount will be applied, calls will be charged at list price.

How many seats are included in year 1?

In year 1, your plan includes unlimited full seats — invite as many teammates as you need at no extra cost.

How many seats are included in year 2 and 3?

From year 2 onwards, your plan includes 2 full advanced seats. You may add more if you wish — additional seats will be discounted at the same rate as the overall discount in that year (50% in year two, 25% in year three). You can’t reduce the number of seats below the 2 included in your plan.

What features are not included?

Any features from our Expert plan & Regional Data Hosting are not available for the Startup Partner program. If your startup requires Expert plan features or Regional Data Hosting, contact our Sales team via the Messenger to discuss your options.

Fin Voice: Fin Voice is not currently available on the Early Stage Program. It's still in Managed Availability, and we'll update this article when it becomes available.

If you find the costs are too high in year two and beyond, you can always move to our Essential plan.


How to apply for the Startup Partner program

Am I eligible for the Startup Partner program?

  • Early stage: Startups in their Series A, Seed, and Pre-See stages of funding are eligible

  • Small company: Qualifying startups should have fewer than 25 employees

  • New customer: The startup must currently not be an Intercom customer

When you apply, you'll need to provide your company name, funding stage, number of employees, and your partner referral details. It's important to provide accurate information for our team to review your application. Some applications are approved automatically; others are reviewed manually, which typically takes 1–2 business days. If approved, you'll receive a confirmation email with instructions to activate your plan.

FAQs

What happens if I'm not accepted to the program?

If you don't meet the eligibility criteria for Intercom's Startup Partner program, we have plans available here for all businesses, or you can chat to our Sales team.

What happens in year two?

You can move to the second year of the Startup Partner program with the 50% year two discount applied, or downgrade to an Essential plan at list price, or chat to our Sales team about the Expert plan.

Year 2 discounts are reserved for customers who stay on the program — switching to a self-serve or sales-led plan means forfeiting those savings.

What happens in year three?

You can move to the third year of the Startup Partner program with the 25% year three discount applied, or downgrade to an Essential plan at list price, or chat to our Sales team about the Expert plan.

Year 3 discounts are reserved for customers who stay on the program — switching to a self-serve or sales-led plan means forfeiting those savings.

What happens at the end of the program?

At the end of year three you'll graduate from the Startup Partner program onto one of our plans at list price. 30 days out from your graduation date we will share options. You can choose a different plan if that suits your needs better.

How do I restart my trial?

If you need to restart your trial or request a refund, please contact us via the Messenger and ask to "Talk to a person".

I’ve started a trial with Intercom, can I still join the program?

Yes, if you've already started an Intercom trial and you meet the Startup Partner program eligibility criteria you can still apply here.

Can a company have more than one workspace on the program?

No, the program is only for new customers, a company can only have one workspace with an Startup Partner program program subscription.

Can I join the program a second time?

The Startup Partner program is a one-time opportunity for each startup.

Is this a monthly subscription or annual contract?

This is a monthly subscription, you can cancel at any time from your workspace Billing. If you would prefer to explore annual contracts, please reach out to our Sales team in the Messenger.

Can we change this subscription at any time?

Yes, this is a monthly subscription, you can cancel or upgrade at any time from your workspace Billing. If you would prefer to explore annual contracts, please reach out to our Sales team in the Messenger.

What happens to my data if I cancel my subscription?
