Design your email templates in the no-code, WYSIWYG composer and ensure your email campaigns are consistently on-brand.

From Proactive Support > Settings > Email templates, click “Design new template”:

Note: “Can access Proactive Support settings” permission is required to create and edit email templates.

Give your template an easily identifiable name which describes which emails should use this template.

Template settings

These settings control the overall template, including:

  • Template background color.

  • Body background color.

  • Font.

  • Font color.

  • Font size (Heading 1, Heading 2, Paragraph, Small Text).

Sections

Now you can start editing the template sections which are made up of 3 parts:

  • Header - The header should contain content that won't change in email campaigns, such as your company logo.

  • Content - The content section is editable in email campaigns. Add content that indicates the email structure, or leave it blank and add content later.

  • Footer - The footer should contain content that won't change during email campaigns, such as a link to your website. It must contain an unsubscribe option.

Section settings

Selecting a section lets you adjust the section settings in the sidebar, including:

  • Section Background color.

  • Section Padding.

Note: The “Default” color is the set under Template settings.

Adding content

To add content, simply click on the plus icon and select an option:

Note: It is not currently possible to add Dynamic content via the template builder.

Image formatting

Images can be aligned, hyperlinked, or given an ALT text, and you can also adjust the size on the left:

Text styling

Text can be highlighted and formatted, and you can manage the text styling in the sidebar, including:

  • Style (Heading 1, Heading 2, or Paragraph).

  • Font.

  • Text color.

  • Alignment (Left or Center).

Text can also include attributes:

Design the layout of your content by selecting the “Layout” feature:

This gives you more versatility to arrange and stack content on the template:

Note: These layouts are mobile friendly and will stack content blocks one on top of the other on mobile.

Button styling

Add buttons to a content block and use the settings on the left to customize:

  • Text.

  • Link.

  • Font.

  • Button style.

  • Background color.

  • Text color.

  • Corner radius.

  • Padding.

  • Alignment.

Note: Its not currently possible to have multiple different Content Blocks in the visual email editor.

Spacer blocks

Add a spacer between other block types and then adjust the size settings on the left (spacers must be between 16 and 200 pixels).

Unsubscribe link

To restore a deleted unsubscribe link, or to create a custom version to match your brand language, add plain text to the footer and highlight it to open the link menu:

Then choose “Unsubscribe URL” from the attribute inserter:

Save the template

When you’ve finished creating your template, click “Save” in the top right to add this to your existing email templates:

Email template selection flow

The new template selection flow now allows you to visualize all custom and default templates during the email creation process.

Moving content between templates

When switching email templates in either the email composer or Series, you can select this new template:

You’ll also be asked whether you want to keep your current template’s content, or load the content from the new template:

  • Keep content - This will keep the content section of the current template. The header and footer sections of the new template will be loaded.

  • Load template content - This will load the header, content, and footer sections of the new template, replacing any content you've added to the current template.

Important: Headers and footers are not editable in the email composer. The only section that is editable is the content section. If you want to update the header or footer, you’ll need to do this from the template editor.

Duplicate template

All custom templates can now be duplicated from the email templates page under the More dropdown option.
