If you’d like an answer to to send only when specific words are used in the question, use trigger words.

Note: Most answers don’t require trigger words. By adding them, the answer will only send for questions that contain those words, and not for any similar questions.

To add trigger words, click on ‘Configure trigger words’ when training Answer bot:

You can then add trigger words, either in a row, or separated by commas:

How to format trigger words

  • If you’d like the answer to trigger for any of your trigger words, put commas between them. A comma works as an ‘any’ rule.
  • If you’d like your answer to trigger only when all trigger words are in the question, don’t use commas. Words separated by spaces works as an ‘all’ rule.

Once you’ve saved your trigger rules, your answer will only trigger for questions containing those words.

Important: For trigger words to work, you'll also need to add at least one example question, either from Answer Bot's suggestions or manually:

You should also ensure that the words in your example questions correspond with the trigger words you add.
