The Manage redirects feature in the Help Center gives you full control over your redirects, ensuring your content retains full SEO ranking and relevance for your content.

  • Allows you to set up redirects when importing content from another Help Center.

  • Teammates can manually add, edit and delete redirects to either Articles or Collections.

  • This feature adds ‘301 - Moved Permanently’ redirects, which seamlessly redirect from old paths or aliases to your existing content within the same Help Center domain.

If you import your articles to Intercom using the Migrate from Zendesk tool, redirects are automatically generated during the import process. Those redirects can also be edited, or deleted.

You are not restricted to migration scenarios. You may want to use this feature to generate a friendly alias to certain customers.

For example you can generate an alias by redirecting https://example.com/account to the article URL: https://example.com/en/articles/6572296-locating-your-account-number.

You can have multiple URLs redirecting to the same article.

Pro tip: This feature is great for when you need to change the URL of an article that is hyperlinked to many other articles in your Help Center. Instead of editing each article, you can simply set up a redirect.

Adding redirects

You can add redirects for each Help Center by going to Help Center Settings > General > Domains and clicking Manage redirects under Domain Redirects.

Then clicking on + New redirect

Adding the URL that you need to Redirect from, and choosing to have it redirect to an article or collection, by selecting the Redirect type.

You can select the Redirect to target from a list of all published articles or existing collections depending on your redirect type.

Managing Redirects

You can manage all redirects for Articles and Collections by going to Help Center Settings > General > Domains and clicking Manage redirects under Domain Redirects.

You can delete or edit existing redirects from this view. If you unpublish an article it will show as article status Draft in amber color. If you delete the Redirected to article, the redirect will be automatically removed from your list of domain redirects.

Note: For Intercom articles to redirect, old article or collection from which you are trying to redirect, should be unpublished first.
